John Bull, whose leg rests in territory marked “Indian Empire” looks through a telescope across the Himalayas at a Russian soldier, probably the Tzar, while a goat labelled “Sheer Ali” smokes a pipe. Beneath the cartoon appears both the text “Asiatic Sport — Shere Stalking” and sixteen lines of doggerel that end “If either try tresspass, ’tis easy to see / ’Twill spoil sport, and result in no end of a bother.’
