The cartoonist expresses the nation's support for Palmerston against the Cobdenites, and implies that the Prime Minister should call a general election. although Mr. Bull seems jovial enough, Palmerston seems quite disconsolate. The cartoon on the facing page involves Disraeli and Cobden, Palmerston's chief opponents: "Out For The Day. Dizzy (to Cobden). 'He'd better look after his 'Riding' a little — He has a very uncertain Seat!'"
