A View of Mount's Bay with the North Pier

Norman Garstin (1847–1926)

c. 1892

Oil on panel

Size: H 25.5 x W 19 cm

Penlee House Art Gallery & Museum (on loan from Newlyn Art Gallery); accession no. NELNG : 1995.

Writing about Stanhope Forbes, Garstin described the artist as "a man who deals in pleasurable emotions, and reflects in some medium or another the waves of feeling that fall upon him from the infinite suggestions of nature" (81). This often seems to describe the experience reflected in Garstin's own paintings.
