Ball's landscape art is shown to advantage here in this view down the Isis (as the Thames is called here), with the village of Iffley in the distance on the left bank, the tower of the well-known church prominent among the trees. The scene includes a sailing boat on that side, and a couple of passers-by on the other bank. Iffley in Oxfordshire is a favourite spot for sketching. — Jacqueline Banerjee
