Cloth binding for ‘The Vicar of Wakefield’

William Harry Rogers; signed

1855

Red cloth, with gilt lettering

8½ x5 ½ inches

An elegant cloth binding in the Renaissance style by Rogers. The interlocked panels in gilt animate the surface and create a pleasing effect – ideal for a gift-book. The copy shown here is a variant; the book was more typically bound in an orange cloth.
