125, Cockspur. London SW1Y 5EA. Listed Building. 1912-13 by H.R. Houchin and Frank Smee: Portland stone, copper dome. [Click on these images and those below to enlarge them.] The British Listed Buildings site, describes this Grade II 5-story office block (English Heritage Building ID: 422830) as “Eclectic Baroque” on a “narrow but very prominent frontage [that closes the] Haymarket vista.” Above the three top floors “rises a dome with 2 tiers of attic windows in the drum between scrolled voluted buttresses, enriched cresting-cornice and copper dome surmounted by finial with openwork globe crowned by weathervane of a ship. Tall corniced flanking chimney stacks.” These tall chimneys are clearly visible in the photograph at left while the gilded ship that surmounts the dome appears at the right.
