The South Wales Daily News of 26and 27June 1891 advertised “Samuel’s Sentiments” as “An illustrated Humorous Article”. No issue of the Cardiff Times is recorded for a small number (4) of Saturdays between December 11, 1886 and November 11, 1891, either because an issue is lacking in the National Library of Wales or because there was no issue on those dates. The dates in question are: 1 January 1887, 19 August 1888, 16 February 1889, and 19 October 1889.

In the list below *** indicates that the issue exists in the National Library of Wales database, but “Samuel’s Sentiment” is lacking. [The number of Satudays on which no article was published doesn’t change around the date of the death of the paper’s founder, editor, and proprietor, David Duncanon on 1 January 1888. However from 29 September 1888 there are far fewer interruptions. In 1891, there are 8 gaps in 47 weeks. Duncan’s deatherefore seems not to be a determining factor in this respect.

Unless otherwise indicated all the the Samuel’s columns appear on page 1.
