Study of Woman's Head. Pencil on white paper; 7 ¼ x 4 ¼ inches (18.3 x 10.8 cm). Collection of the Victoria and Albert Museum, accession no. E.14-1949, given by Mr. Ralph Edwards, F.S.A. Image courtesy ©Victoria and Albert Museum, London. [Click on the image to enlarge it.]
This is a head and shoulders study of an attractive young woman, three-quarter profile, and facing to the right. It is likely a study for Strudwick's "Thy Music, faintly falling, dies away, Thy dear eyes dream that Love will live for aye," [Golden Strings] that Strudwick exhibited at the New Gallery in 1893.
