The St Paul's Collection site first has "Farmer, Brindley (Sculptor)" as the "creator" of this monument, but at the end of the inscription, as transcribed on the site, are the words, "E. Onslow Ford /1901." Indeed, Ford's obituary in the Auckland Star of 8 February 1902 mentions that "the bust of Sir George Grey, destined as a memorial of the Pro-Consul over his grave in the crypt of St Paul's," was one of the works exhibited at the previous summer's Academy (1). It was therefore one of his last works. It seems that only the panel setting, socle and plinth were the work of Farmer & Brindley.
