Fire-Irony

Fire-Irony

Fun (5 April 1876): 158

Specimen of the patent Plan adopted in the family of our own Rinkbus. The girls having heard that “burnt children dread the fire” have at once adopted the Fender.

The cartoon makes fun of what was in fact a real danger to Victorian girls and women — injury and death from voluminous clothing near open flames.
