Menpes depicts an impressive entrance with tall stone lanterns either side, but what stands out here are the great hangings with the bold white flowers on a red background, with a gold tassel in the middle. This must be one of the larger temples (or shrines). A few people look curiously towards the sketcher! — Jacqueline Banerjee
