In this lovely study in blue, using typically mixed media, the figure is so close that it almost fills the paper. The simple peasant girl, in repose, has a beauty and tranquility that matches the scenery. Behind her is the sweep of a cottage roof (like that of a house designed by C.F.A. Voysey), and trees with a piquant touch of Japanese style about them.
