Text accompanying the engraving
Kew-bridge is a stone edifice of seven arches, and was opened in 1789. Leaving the hamlet of Strand-on-the-Green on the left, the river winds circuitously by Mortlake and Barnes. The church at the latter village is one of the most ancient structures in the vicinity of London. The river, sweeping boldly to the right, leaves Chiswick on the left. [69]
