The New Salome by Max Klinger (1857-1920). 1903. Partially painted marble, amber, and shell. Museum der bildenden Künste, Leipzig. The Sotheby’s sale of nineteenth-century European art on 9 May 2013 included a 19-inch bronze version cast by Gladenbeck of Berlin sometime after 1903, when the artist authorized the foundry to cast bronze reduced-size versions.
