According to Michael Kerney, who explains the complex amd often conflicted history of the stained glass in Butterfield's masterpiece, “In 1910 [The Adoration of the Lamb] was entirely hidden from view behind a new and enlarged organ and boarded up externally. It was re-exposed only in 1996 and extracted from the outside. . . . it was reset in the baptistery (west window of tower) where the three-light Gérente window had been blown out in the war.” To fit its present position, portions of the top and bottom, includng figurative panels, had to be removed.
