The Widow's Mite, by William Aikman (1868-1959), 1926, at St Matthew's, Ashford, Surrey. Like one of the windows in the south aisle, and the west window as well, this fourth window in the north aisle was installed in memory of Marianne Henrietta Martindell, who died on 8 March 1925. The choice of subject here suggests that she was a philanthropic soul, most probably a benefactor of the church. Photographs by Jacqueline Banerjee.
