The Paxton Memorial
Joseph Goddard (1840-1900)
c.1866
Described in the listing text as "Of stone, and not unlike an Eleanor Cross with pink granite colonnettes rising up the side."
Close to the former main entrance gates
Goddard was a well-known Leicester-based architect. Note that Paxton neither died nor was buried in Coventry. He died at Sydenham, at his home near the Crystal Palace, and was buried in the churchyard at Edensor — the village near Chatsworth House that he, with his assistant John Robertson, had planned and designed for the Duke of Devonshire.
