Autumn

Georgie Gaskin

Engraving by an unknown engraver

The illustration for Autumn shows the girl with her hornbook (now with the letters w and u) amid scrolling vines of stylised grapes. There is a touch of humour here, because she is keeping herself warm by using her hornbook as a battledore! This is the third of Gaskin's four very attractive Arts and Crafts designs here, based on the seasons.
