Cover for ‘Beauty in Common Things’

[1874]

Red cloth gilt

This handsome book contains 12 chromolithographic images of flowers and floral devices, printed in colour by William Dickes. The attractive front cover is unsigned. Produced in the 70s, when standards in cloth binding had declined, it looks back to the elaborate gilt liveries of gift books of the 60s.
