Binding by Walter Crane. 7½ x 7 inches; engraved and printed in colour by Edmund Evans. This highly decorative work is figured as a Renaissance cornucopia; as usual, other elements are added, this time in the form of comic characters and naturalistic images of birds. Neo-classical swags and mid-Victorian realism are seamlessly fused to create a rich, dynamic effect.
