Red Terra-Cotta Reredos, made at Jabez Thompson's Ornamental Red Brick & Terra-Cotta Works, Northwich, for Little Leigh Church, Cheshire. Built to Kirby's designs in 1878-79, St Michael and All Angels in Little Leigh, Cheshire, is Grade II listed and described in its listing text as being of "[f]iery orange brick and terracotta" inside and out — with reredos "of boldly moulded scene of the Last Supper in gothic blind arcading all in terracotta."
The completed reredos, a remarkable testimony to the effects which could be achieved in this medium.
