Home Farm, Foxwarren Park
Designed by Charles Buxton with the assistance of Frederick Barnes
c. 1860
Near Cobham, Surrey
Above the open cloisters here are the "brick slits for windows, grouped five or six at a time under crow-stepped gables" that Ian Nairn and Nikolaus Pevsner seem to find eerie (246). Yet the intricately patterned bricklaying, the neat tile caps for the crow-stepping, and the bright curving bargeboarding of the adjacent gable, all make a striking impression.
