Tinworth executed two identical portrait medallions on the north and south sides of this fountain, just under the dome (one can be seen on the right here). The profile is that of the well-loved newspaper editor and Glasgow MP Sir Charles Cameron (1841-1926), who amongst much else was was one of the leading Temperance campaigners, and whose work is celebrated” by the fountain as a whole. Described as a "two-stage structure in an exuberant Baroque style" (McKenzie 352), it is an eye-catching piece in a prominent postion.
