Nathan Strong (1781-1837), a graduate of Yale and Williams College and a member of the Connecticut Medical Society, studied the elusive disease now known as cerebrospinal meningitis. In 1810 Strong published An inaugural dissertation on the disease termed Petechial, or Spotted Fever and presented it to the Connecticut Medical Society.
