Beaumaris Castle, Anglesey

Beaumaris Castle, Anglesey. 1290-1330. Beaumaris is the most perfect of James of St. George's castles for Edward I. Built to hold down rebellions after the death of Llewelyn ap Gruffudd in 1282, it was too expensive even for Edward's exchequer and was never finished. [Click on image to enlarge it.]
