listed town hall was built in 1867 by Lloyd Williams and Underwood, the County Architects. Standing proud in an early Gothic style, it has a striking presence on the corner with Parade Street. As in other such buildings in small towns, the civic offices were on the first floor, with a market hall below, a blending of purposes no longer favoured by bigger towns and cities.
