A Natural Objection

This carefully drawn cartoon of misunderstanding between the sexes depends on a highly unlikely misunderstanding of the word object: by the word he means purpose, but she takes it mean thing, and doesn't want to be considered a mere thing. The cartoon seems most interesting for its depiction of a fashionable room and the man’s clothing — checked trousers, double-treasted overcoat, and bowler.
