The “Aesthetic Young Lady” stands in a room decorated with sunflowers, so popular in the 1880s and ’90s, and wears a high-necked dress without a bustle and probably without a corset.

When you see in print such epithets applied to him as ‘Peregrination Pump-Handle,’ ‘Permissive Platitudinist,’ ‘Peripatetic Agitator,’ “Driveller of Dreary Drossiness,’ it makes one really dfeel that he has done something to advance the Poetry of Literature in this country.”
