Planing and Adzing Machinery. Text from The Illustrated London News
A little bexond the saws is a solid two-armed stout iron stock (as seen in the separate View); to the end of each arm is attached an adze, 10 1/2 inches long, and 4 1/2 inches wide. These two adzes rotate together, and remove the uneven parts of the upper surface of the plank or batten; the plank is kept down to this part of the bench by two pressure rollers.
