One of George Eliot and G.H. Lewes's gifted friends, the artist Rudolf Lehmann had come to England from Germany in 1866, and took John Phillip’s house in Kesington, 76 Campden Hill Road, after Phillips's death. He mentions interesting mention of Eliot in his reminiscences.
