ictorian Periodicals Review is currently accepting essay submissions for two prizes. The winner of each prize will receive $500 and publication in Victorian Periodicals Review:
- The VanArsdel Prize for the best graduate student essay investigating Victorian periodicals and newspapers. For more information, visit https://rs4vp.org/awards/vanarsdel-prize/
- The Expanding the Field Prize for an outstanding essay that diversifies the existing geographic, racial, and ethnic composition of nineteenth-century periodical studies. Submissions should deepen our understanding of BIPOC founders, editors, contributors, and readers of periodicals; interrogate Anglocentric perspectives; enact anti-racist or anti-colonial values; and/or consider the cultural impact of the British Empire around the world.
