The Northeast Victorian Studies Association (NVSA) is very pleased to announce the Call for Papers for our 2022 conference, "Recovery," which will be held April 8-10, 2022. Please circulate it widely, and submit proposals of no more than 500 words by October 15, 2021 to Mimi Winick at mwinick@hds.harvard.edu.
We continue to hope that we will be able to have the (hopefully not over-optimistically themed) conference at John Hopkins University, but doing so depends of course on the status of the pandemic and on local University regulations. In the event that we cannot have the conference in-person, we will hold it remotely during the same scheduled weekend.
We have so far confirmed two excellent keynote speakers, Talia Schaffer (Queens College, CUNY) and Arden Hegele (Columbia). Stay tuned for the third! The conference will also include our annual "Fieldwork" roundtable panel, which will discuss the politics, ethics, and other aspects of working with traumatic, offensive, or otherwise fraught archives. It promises, as always, to be a wonderful conference, and we look forward to seeing you there!
One last note: graduate student applications for the NVSA Mentorship Program are due October 1, 2021. Complete details are on the website.
Sincerely,
Jonathan Farina, President, NVSA
Olivia Moy, Vice President
Mimi Winick, Program Chair
