Christ the Man of Sorrows, Christ Ascending, Christ the Lord of Life, in the church of St John the Baptist, Holland Road, in Kensington. Most of the windows here were by Clayton and Bell (see listing text), and this one in a series, not attributed to any other maker, is likely to have been by the firm. It belongs to the later period of work on the church, 1909-11, when the three west porches were enclosed to make a baptistery and two chapels, and windows were installed to show the various aspects of Christ.
Words below the central light here dedicate it to the memory of Charles Mylne Barker, who died on 17 February 1910: Charles Mylne Barker and Co. was a firm of solicitors at No. 15 Bedford-row, London (see the London Gazette of 27 April 1909, p. 3242). This was the kind of person who belonged to the well-to-do congregation of this beautiful church. [Click on the image for a larger picture.]
