Some working girls, with their sleeves rolled up and their aprons on, taunt the finely-dressed "'Arriet" and suggest that her coat is made of sealskin and long past its best. They are probably just envious, as the first part of the caption suggests. "'Arry" was a popular figure in Punch cartoons around this time, as the pretentious cockney now able to afford excursions. 'Arriet seems to have been the female equivalent, tarted up, but here being mocked by her less well-off working-class peers.
