The portly fishmonger tries to persuade his slight and elegantly dressed customer to buy four fish, which he would eat as a snack but which would clearly be much too much for her to tackle. Every detail counts here: the narrow harbour street, the pub on the left, the coster-barrow with its board and knife ready for cutting and filleting, the fishmonger's rolled-up trousers, etc. Click on image to enlarge it
