In her own translation of Gottfried Augustus Bürger's Lenore, Cameron promised to be more faithful to the original than Sir Walter Scott had been. At least one of her later photographic illustrations of Tennyson would owe something to this early collaboration: similarities with Maclise in her illustration of The Passing of Arthur may have been "deliberate flattery" of him (Ford 73).
