Alastair Scott Anderson shows a cover with the title (The 1901 Book) in the top left-hand corner, beside a red front door with a stained glass panel. The panel features a woman's face against a rural background (see Anderson 40). This cover seems to be missing from the set of pages shown here. As a frontispiece, the present illustration prepares us for the influence of Art Nouveau on the subsequent designs. — Jacqueline Banerjee
