Graphic design on paper for ‘The Battlefield Treasure’

Probably by Harry Napper

[1896]

Cloth binding

8 x 6 inches

This design by Napper is closely linked to the covers of Talwin Morris and was clearly intended to conform to Blackie's house-style. The extended verticals, combined with an abstracted floral motif, are typical examples of the lexicon of Scottish Art Nouveau.
