FAMILIARLY known as the “House,“ which is the most spacious and splendid of all the Oxford colleges. It has not grown up like many of the others from small beginnings, but was designed on a scale of princely magnificence by Cardinal Wolsey at the height of his greatness, his desire being to found a seat of learning and religion which would shed glory upon his name throughout the ages. —Elsie M. Lang
