Covent Garden, London: Interior view of glass and iron roof. Architect: Charles Fowler. 1828-31. [Click on these images for larger pictures.] Note the delicate tracery, which creates an air of lightness. The blue curved roof beams are supported by iron columns, which have recently been painted orange with buff capitals. The end of the beam uses a circle as reinforcement, just like the Lancaster railway station.
