The Queen's Gallery is one of two permanent exhibition spaces for the Royal Collection (there is another Queen's Gallery in Edinburgh). It was first housed in what was once a conservatory of Buckingham Palace, and then a chapel, and was opened to the public in 1962. The building was enlarged, and the entrance portico added, in 2002. The New Pennethorne Gallery commemorates earlier work in this part of the palace by the Victorian architect, Sir James Pennethorne.
