Steam Locomotive E1 Class 0-6-0T NO.W2 Yarmouth, at Havenstreet Station on the Isle of Wight. Like the W8 Freshwater and W11 Newport, this was built in the Brighton works to the design of William Stroudley (1833-1889) for the London, Brighton and South Coast Railway (LB&SCR). Originally No. 110 Burgundy, the locomotive was built in 1877, and was one of 78 of this class designed for use in hauling goods over short distances. [Click on both images to enlarge them.]

Yarmouth has changed in various ways since she was first built. She has lost her original "copper-capped chimney, crosshead water pump and wooden brake blocks," and a change of boiler has given her a different appearance, "especially around the cab" ("Steam Locomotive E1"). After a long history of different owners and uses, including use by a colliery company, she arrived at Havenstreet in 2012. Now named Yarmouth after the harbour town Yarmouth on the Isle of Wight, she is currently undergoing a complete overhaul in the workshop.
