Originally made for All Saints church Pontardawe (now a private dwelling), this was later moved to Ynysmeddwy church (now also now a private dwelling). It is one of several in the UK based on Bertel Thorvaldsen's design of the font in Copenhagen Cathedral, but the face is similar to that of the two Cardiff (Old) Library figures modelled on Taylor's wife, Constance.
