“The sculptor has given Llewellyn ap Gruffydd, the last native Prince of Wales, who was killed in 1282, the moustache and flowing curls of a Victorian hero. Griffith, who was born in Pembrokeshire, worked as an apprentice mason at Llandalf Cathedral, before working as a sculptor in London and San Francisco” (Museum label).
