According to the Mapping Sculpture website, Brown, a sculptor, modeller, and metal worker, was born in Glasgow and “initially trained with his father, then at the Glasgow School of Art and lastly with Lanteri at the Royal College of Art. After spending some years in London he returned to Glasgow to teach modelling, metal work and repoussé at Glasgow School of Art, c.1888-98. From 1892 he had a lively practice and executed numerous commissions in Glasgow and the west of Scotland.”
