The Manchester Art Gallery website describes this drawing as a "[f]ull length study of a woman, in classical dress. Her dress has fallen off her left shoulder, and her legs are visable through the flimsy cloth. Both of her hands are raised and are clasped at the shoulder, and her hair is tied behind." It is possibly an early preliminary study for Isabella, although in that case the positions of her arms have been changed in the final composition.
