The etching is based on the painting of the same title that Macbeth exhibited at the Royal Academy in 1879, no. 1257. Impressions are in the British Museum, London, registration no. 1949,1207.35, as well as in the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, as shown above. — Dennis T. Lanigan
