A Mountain Path in Snowdonia. George Cockram (1861-1950). 1880s. Watercolour; signed and inscribed on the artist's label. 19 ½ x 29 ¼ inches. Reproduced courtesy of the Maas Gallery. Click on image to enlarge it.

Sadly this large and probably exhibited picture has lost its label and been reframed. Therefore, the artist's title is now unknown. The view is taken from the path up into Cwn Idwal with Gribin Facet to the upper left and Glyder Fawr shrouded in mist behind. The compact nature of the signature would suggest an earlier date in Cockram's career, probably before 1910. — Charles Nugent
