Brett went to Cornwall on this trip in August 1880, and, then in his most prolific period, painted this typically detailed view of the Cornish boulders on the cliffs, with the Longships Lighthouse (only built in 1875 to replace the old one there) in the distance. — Jacqueline Banerjee
