ifu Xing is a graduate of the Experimental Highschool attached to Beijing Normal University, and is currently applying to college, where he hopes to pursue a degree in history. His special interest is in Victorian social history, particularly in the area of child labor and education — and within that area, on the “half-time” system, in which children were expected to divide their time between labor and schooling.
Yifu's larger project is to design a website / archive for non-copyright primary source materials and a collection of useful links and resources for people doing research on the transformation of working-class childhood during the period, and he has received support for this both from his school and from informal mentors at Peking University.
Away from academia, Yifu enjoys debating, where he was a member of the Chinese National WSDC High School debate team (Team China). His other interests include writing political satire and directing short films.
